Join us and discover why Modern Healthcare Magazine named us in its "Top 100 Places to Work." -Med Surg Overview: -Mercy Fort Smith's Med Surg Service Line is made up of 8 specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. - Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. - While you will have a "home unit", we cross-train our nurses between the various specialties to provide a strong foundational knowledge of all types of patient conditions, comorbidities, procedures, etc. - Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their every day work, Med Surg is the place for you! -Cardiac Medical Stepdown Unit Details: -

• Patient Population: close monitoring and nursing care for patients who are higher acuity cardiac and respiratory patients
  • Chest Tubes
  • Titration of Cardiac Drips
  • Increased knowledge of BiPAP and Airvo
  • Increased knowledge of Pacemakers
  • Increased knowledge of Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator
  • Increased knowledge of Heart Caths
  • Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis
  • NIH
  • Ultrasound Guided IV
  • Able to get PCCN certified after one year
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 4:1 or 5:1
  • # of Beds: 25
  • UAP to patient ratio: 9:1
  • Great unit to start and transition to ICU/ED! -Qualifications:
    • Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
    • Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
    • Certifications:Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period.
